Statement
Laura Pregeant is a mixed media artist working in sculpture, installation, video, performance, and 2D media.
Movement and sound are utilized in her works often mimicking soft, repetitive, rhythmic fluctuations while colorful lights reflect from and chase lustrous materials for a mesmerizing effect. Her work takes a candid aesthetic including manipulated appliances recontextualized alongside atypical aesthetics or objectives, producing her own expressive devices. Works are well crafted with attention to detail, combining calculated imagery with deliberate materials to construct visually and physically collaged recreations of spaces, dreams, memories, and inspirations. Themes of overabundance and failure are explored throughout her work.
